Are you a Cain ?

Cain “went out from the presence of the Lord.” Cain was not interested in God. He was not interested in fellowshipping with God or in honoring God or in obeying God or in having God in his thoughts. Cain wanted to live apart from God. He did not want God in his life. This certainly describes much of mankind in every age. They prefer to live a godless life. They do not want God in their life. This attitude keeps people away from church, from prayer, and from the Word of God. It is the attitude that has run God out of our schools, out of our societies, and out of our government. And this attitude will bring damnation to the soul. What a contrast Moses is to Cain and to much of the world, for Moses so valued the presence of God he would not go anywhere if God did not go with him (Exodus 33:15).Daily Bible Reading: Sermonettes #1.

man’s evil behavior

Do you want to know the cause, consequences, and cure of man’s evil behavior? Begin with God, and you will have  more understanding of man’s behavior than all the ungodly social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists of the world put together.

The most insanely daring thing that any man can do, the most exceedingly foolish thing any man can do, the most desperately wicked thing that any man can do, is to reply against God, to enter into controversy with God, to criticize God, to condemn God. Yet that is what many people are doing

When you hear a little child replying against his father or mother, getting into controversy, criticizing, condemning, you are filled with disgust and indignation. It is something not to be tolerated for one moment. But what is it for any mere human being, any mere creature of the dust such as all of us are, to reply against, to criticize, to enter into controversy with, to try to prove wrong the Infinite and Eternal God? It is the most exceedingly foolish and desperately wicked thing a human being can do.

Wal-Mart is bringing Santas back to its stores in bid to lure Christmas shoppers

NEW YORK: Two years ago, Wal-Mart Stores substituted the word “holiday” for Christmas references and encouraged store greeters to do the same, in line with other retailers’ removal of “Christmas” from advertising and stores.

Now, after criticism from religious groups, Wal-Mart is getting back in the Christmas spirit. For the first time, the retailer is bringing Santas into its 3,407 stores. And, following an experiment at a few locations last year, the retailer has set up a “Christmas Shop” in each of its 1,500 outlets with garden centers.

“This is still a nation where the majority of the people consider themselves Christian,” said Patricia Edwards, a portfolio manager in Seattle at Wentworth, Hauser & Violich.

Last month, Lowe’s, a home improvement chain based in Mooresville, North Carolina, apologized for referring to “Family Trees” instead of Christmas trees in a catalog.

“It’s time to stop being daft about Christmas. It’s fine to
celebrate and it’s fine for Christ to be star of the show,”
said Trevor Phillips, chairman of the Equality and Human Rights
Commission.
“Let’s stop being silly about a Christian Christmas,” he
said, referring to a tendency to play down the traditional
celebrations of the birth of Christ for fear of offending
minorities in multicultural Britain
